The Pizza Delivery Song (“We will find you…”)

based on “I Will Find You” by Clannad, from the movie Last of the Mohicans.

Okay, I’ve taken my time getting this one put out.  That’s pretty obvious considering a) it’s been nearly twenty years since they made Last of the Mohicans, and b) it’s been nearly that long since any pizza place guaranteed a half-hour delivery.  Oh, well.  Part of the difficulty was trying to figure out what to do about the sections written in the Cherokee and (surprise, surprise) Mohican languages.  What with this difficulty, plus the fact that the Cherokee bits are written as a round, maybe it’s no wonder I’ve been going in circles for so long. You might say it’s my most imaginative parody attempt, or at least the one that requires the most imagination to make sense of, especially after all this time since the original came out…. Good luck, and bon appetit!

Pizza’s your survival;
Expect our quick arrival….

No matter where you live,
We will find you…
If you’ll give us your address.
No matter where you live,
We will find you,
In a half an hour or less.

Garlic crust, or sourdough?
“New York” or “Chicago”?

No matter where you live,
We will find you
If it’s not a long, long drive.
No matter where you live,
We will find you:
You can pay when we arrive.

(and here’s the round, where it gets tricky. I’m going by what I hear, which may or may not reflect the pattern of the lyrics as printed…)

(1st part) Pepperoni.  Mushrooms, olives.  With bell peppers,
(2nd part) Lots of mozzarella.  And tomatoes.
(3rd part) Jalapenos.  No anchovies….

No matter where you live,
We will find you
If it’s not a long, long trip.
No matter where you live,
We will find you.
Please be thoughtful with the tip.

No matter where you live,
We will find you….
Does your complex have a gate?
No matter where you live,
We will find you,
But you may have quite a wait.

No matter where you live,
We will find you….

fading echo:
Lo troveremo, Lo troveremo;
We will find you, we will find you….
